Tippet rings, also known as 'Pitzenbauer rings', are the ideal connection between the leader and tippet.

These smooth micro rings are made from a super lightweight metal alloy, making them ideal for delicate presentations with dry flies, nymphs, and wet flies. The rings are simply tied to the end of the tapered leader or poly leader, after which a piece of line is tied to them. This means that the tapered leader or poly leader retains its original length and does not shorten after each fly change.

Another great advantage of tippet rings is when you want to connect nylon and fluorocarbon together. If you tie monofilament and fluorocarbon directly together, the strength of the knot is very low, as the thicker fluorocarbon 'shaves' the monofilament in the knot. Using a ring for the connection prevents this. The same applies to connecting two lines with very different diameters.

The Stonfo 523 Joint Rings come equipped with a practical tightening tool, which makes it easier to tie the rings to the leader - first tie the pulled leader to the ring and only then push the ring with the winding tool. This means that the fine rings cannot be lost.
